Position of the island

Korčula island is situated on very south of Croatian part of Adriatic sea, and belongs to group of central dalmatian islands. It stretches in west-east direction parallel to the Pelješac peninsula, from which is divided by Pelješac channel. Korčula island is 46,8 km long, it's surface is about 270 square km, and it is 6th largest island on the Adriatic sea. Distance from Pelješac peninsula, specifically Orebić is 1270 meters. Korčula and Orebić are connected by regular ferry lines and passenger boat.

Korčula city is situated on north-east part of the island. It is divided into the Old city located on small peninsula inside Old town walls, and newly built surrounding area. City counts about 4000 inhabitants.
What makes Korčula very attractive tourist destination, completely different from others, is spectacular archipelago which counts about 20 islands.
